iPurchasers have a new app
Purchasers in Europe can nowconduct business with Digi-Keywirelessly using Digi-Key's application for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The application is currently available in English and allows customers tomake purchases in local, Digi-Key supported currencies. Available in the App Store on iTunes, this
free tool provides instant access to Digi-Key's in-stock inventory. It enables customers to view, download and save high-resolution part datasheets directly to their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Once saved, the datasheet will appear in a newmenu itemon themain menu. The customer can come back at any time, open the datasheet, proceed to the part detail related to that datasheet and add the part to their shopping cart. Chief information officer (CIO), John
Collins, said: “The introduction of our flagship iPhone application in Europe provides our domestic and international customers with a convenient intuitive application that enables themto bemore productive and efficient.We believe it is themost comprehensive and user-friendly application available in the electronic components industry to date.” Other features include the ability to search

Knitter's customassembly service reduces the supplier count
European switchmanufacturer, Knitter-switch, announces a customassembly service that brings together Knitter-switch productswith customer specified cabling, connectors and other electromechanical parts. According to CEO, Hanspeter Külb, customers
increasinglywant to reduce their supplier count and look for complete electromechanical assemblies rather than single components from several sources. Aswell as improved quality control, there are significant cost benefitswhen dealingwith a single supplier. “Many customerswantmore than just a
switch and are increasingly asking us to provide themwith a finished assembly by adding cable and connectors to their specification.We now offer design and product procurement aswell as assembly and test to a variety of electrical and safety specifications in addition to RoHS compliance for the finished assembly.”
