WHAT’S NEW One to watch

Petermann-Technik's smallest SMD watch crystal operates at 32,768kHz with dimensions of 2.0 by 1.2 by 0.6mm. The standardmicro- component, available in an extended temperature range of -40 to 85°C, can be supplied with frequency tolerances ranging from±10 to ±30ppm and ±20ppmas standard. The standard load capacity is 12.5pF, with other load capacities available on request.

A range of other SMD watch crystals are also available,

including bearing types, in various housings and a range of 3.5 to 125MHz. Automotive crystals compliant with AECQ200 can also be supplied.

Available fromRutronik, the new Ostar Compact fromOsramOpto Semiconductors is characterised by high-current capability and low thermal resistance. It can handle up to 6A in pulsedmode, which is ideal for pico and pocket projectors for smallmobile terminals.

The LED offersmore light output than its predecessor, and with a

size of 3.9 by 3.6mm, it is accommodated in the same package as the previous version. Thus small projectors can be designed for increased brightness without increasing their size. Instead of 4A, the new LED can now be pulsed with 6A and achieves 350lmin amber, 600lmin green and 165lmin blue in pulsedmode. Thanks to a new packagematerial, its thermal resistance has been reduced to 3K/W compared to 6K/Wof the old version.

This enhanced performance is achieved by a 2mm² chip featuring

improved epitaxy processes andmore even power distribution via additional bond wires.
