WHAT’S NEW Opt for efficiency
Intersil has added to its family of fully integrated battery chargers with the new ISL9220 priced at $2.30 each in 1,000-piece quantities. The device is based on a true switched-mode topology said to ensure high operating efficiency and low power dissipation for one- cell and two-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer based portable applications such as smartphones and tablet computers.
The ISL9220 claims tominimise charge time while providing
Easy-clean boxes target food industry
A new terminal box has been added to Rittal’s Hygienic Design (HD) range of enclosures. With a protection category of IP69K, Rittal’s HD enclosures are key in the design of clean rooms for open processes in the food industry, where there is an emphasis on ease of cleaning.
Utilising Rittal’s HD system accessories, various benefits have
been designed into the stainless steel cases and enclosures, which are available in a number of sizes. Units boast simple cleaning with inclined surfaces of three degrees on all sides and 10deg on the front cover. They also feature an all round gap free silicone seal between the enclosure and front cover plus hygiene compliant hexagon locks and seam free construction.
Captive quick release cover locks and a one-piece easily
replaceable silicone seal make for easy assembly and maintenance. For optimum flexibility, internal rails are supplied with 6.25mm hole pitch, standard support rails and direct fit mounting plates.

Microchip'sMCP6401/2/4 operational amplifiers add to the company's general-purpose op amp portfolio by providing lower power consumption in small packages.
Featuring quiescent current of
45µA with a gain bandwidth product (GBWP) of 1MHz, the op amps complementMicrochip’s eXtreme low power PICmicrocontrollers (MCUs) to extend battery life in applications such asmusic players, appliances and gaming consoles in the consumer sector; industrial barcode scanners and gasmeters; automotive signal conditioning for proximity and tyre-pressure measurement sensors; andmedical applications such as glucometers and portable patient-monitoring devices.
Additional features include amaximumoffset voltage of ±4.5mV and a supply-
voltage range of 1.8 to six volts over the temperature range of -40 to 125°C.

Ecopac Power introduces theMeanWell HLG- 240 series of IP rated 240Wpower supplies.
High wattages and ratings up to IP67 are
combined with efficiency as high as 94 per cent. Constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) modes are available and units can operate between -30 to 60°C at full load with free air convection.
On the IP65 version, the power supply has
two small inputs with rubber stoppers enabling users to adjust the output current or voltage without removing the covers. Through the potential meters the output current can be adjusted between 50 and 100 per cent of rated value. HLG-series are available from 12 up to 54V.

maximumpower efficiency and heat reduction using synchronous pulse widthmodulation technology with integratedmosfets. The device provides up to 2A charge current and charge voltage accuracy is 0.5 per cent. Programmable input current limiting is included along with programmable pre-charge and fast charge settings.
Integrated overvoltage protection on the adapter/USB power
input protects both the battery and circuitry fromdamage due to excessive voltage on the input. A programmable safety timer terminates charging if the battery fails to charge in the programmed period. The ISL9220 can alsomonitor the battery temperature and discontinue charging if the temperature becomes unsafe.
