He was a Chevy Chase resident. Father Granfield taught reli- gion to high school students at the Priory School at St. Anselm’s Benedictine monastery in Wash- ington from 1952 to 1960. Harry S. Hayman COAST GUARD OFFICER

Harry S. Hayman, 88, who re- tired from the Coast Guard in 1963 as a chief warrant officer and later served with what is now the Military Officers Associ- ation of America, died July 31 at his home in Garrett Park. He died of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. Chief Hyman enlisted with the Coast Guard in 1940. After his

lando, died Aug. 15 of chronic anemia at a hospice in Pomona, Calif. After Disney turned to Mr.

Price in 1953 for advice on where to build his first theme park, the engineer analyzed population trends, land prices, accessibility and climate — and zeroed in on a 160-acre orange grove in Ana- heim.

When Disney decided to build another theme park in the East, Mr. Price studied and discarded New York and Washington before recommending the Orlando area for its mild winters and central Florida location. Disney World opened in 1971, almost five years after Disney’s death. Nearly every amusement park built since the 1950s in some way reflects Mr. Price’s approach to planning theme parks, according to experts. His other projects included master-planning eight world’s fairs and consulting on parks for such amusement giants as Sea World, Busch Gardens, Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags. Well into his 80s, Mr. Price continued to practice what he called “roller coaster math,” hew- ing to a principle he spelled out in his 2004 book, “Walt’s Revolu- tion! By the Numbers.” “Guessing

promotion to warrant officer, he served aboard an icebreaker and later as commanding officer of a Coast Guard supply depot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From 1958 to 1963, Chief Hay- man served at Coast Guard head- quarters in Washington as an as- sistant to the comptroller. After his retirement from the Coast Guard, Chief Hayman served with the Retired Officers Associ- ation, now known as the Military Officers Association of America, in the membership division and as director for personal affairs. He retired again in 1985. Harry Samuel Hayman was born in Neelyville, Mo. His first wife, Anne Pivarnik

Hayman, died in 1976 after 29 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Ann Woolery Hayman of Garrett Park; three sons from his first marriage, Duane Hayman of Chewelah, Wash., Dale Hayman of Clarksburg and Warren Hay- man of Moscow, Idaho; and five grandchildren.
