I am using 0.20 mainline to a 0.18 bottom with a size 16 83-13 hook. I like these hooks for meat because they are strong and have more of a round bend which is ideal for particles, I also know that if I do hit into a bigger fi sh they will hold up. Get settled into a regular rhythm of feeding and do not pack the micro pellets too tightly into the feeder, you want them to break down quickly and not be stuck inside the feeder.


It is not long before I am into my fi rst fi sh, the take was positive and I put this down to my set-up. A light set-up leads to more defi nite takes because the fi sh feel less and are happy to try and sail away with my hook bait.


I have had a great day and amassed over 30lb of carp in a relatively short time spell. Try this method next time you are on a commercial.

Over 30lb of fi sh on simple tactics


1. Do not pack the pellets too tightly into the feeder.


2. Cushion the feeder into the water by raising your rod tip just before the feeder hits the water. You want it to land in


the water and create minimum disturbance.


3. Make sure your feeder lands within one foot of the island any further out and the likelihood is that you will not catch!
