Editorial Global themes, local relevance
Pip Brooking Editor
Welcome to the new M&M – designed to power brands, agencies and media owners with the data, insight, analysis and tools necessary for them to effectively compete in the global advertising marketplace. The international media and marketing scene is
underserved, yet it is one of the best places in the industry to be as globalisation picks up the pace. Globalisation offers endless opportunities, but just as many challenges. Those who want to stay ahead of their competitors as they expand and shift their priorities need to understand the dynamics at play, the big issues that affect everyone, and the local nuances that could be the difference between success and failure. With 21 years under its belt, serving primarily those in
Europe, M&M has spent the last couple broadening its outlook. Now with a new cross-platform approach, a clear focus for its content and a strategy to ensure it is connected both globally and locally, the new M&M aims to be your default resource for information on an international basis. Combining utility online with thought-provoking comment offline, the new M&M is more accessible than ever before. Watch out for the new website which will be unveiled at the end of this month, as this will act as the ‘digital heart’ of the brand, offering media and marketing professionals an immediate first port of call to answer any internationally relevant questions they may have. The magazine is now
quarterly to allow for greater analysis of the news that will really play a part in shaping the industry, alongside M&M proprietary research and heavy hitting interviews. We will continue with our popular guides, supplements and
wallcharts, and add to them over time, while M&M Briefings will increase their frequency, and the M&M Awards and its training course IMM have received an upgrade. If you haven’t already, you can sign up online to our free weekly newsletter, the M&M Shortcut, which offers a quick glance of the news that matters from around the world; and as a member of M&M, you will also receive a monthly eZine, keeping you in touch with the key news, trends and events. To network global marketers effectively, we can’t do it alone.
To ensure we have the necessary global relevance and local connections, we have the beginnings of an editorial board, made up of senior industry figures such as the IAA’s Alan Rutherford and Millward Brown’s Sue Elms. We are also now recruiting international experts and local
market heroes for the M&M blog, who can highlight what effect the global issues have on their market; and we are actively pursuing partnerships with key industry associations, as their agendas reflect the issues we all face. If you can help with either of these, let us know. To serve you well, we also need to hear from you and what you think is important. I await your feedback on this launch issue. Enjoy!
