(IFV) specifically designed to meet the SV requirement. ASCOD is already in service with Austria, as the Ulan with 112 units delivered and with the Spanish Army as the Pizarro. Initial Spanish order comprised a total of 144 Pizarro IFV and variants which have all been delivered with production now underway of another batch of 190 units to an enhanced design. General Dynamics UK have confirmed that all intellectual property rights for the vehicle will reside in the UK. In addition to the IFV, the second

Pizarro batch has a number of specialised versions that could be applicable to the FRES-SV, including observer, recovery and engineer. To meet the IOC first chassis of the FRES-SV will come from the General Dynamics Santa Barbara Sistemas production line in Spain, with production being progressively transferred to the Defence Support Group (DSG) facility at Donnington. It is understood that about 100 chassis would

The turret for the FRES- Scout will be provided by Lockheed Martin UK Ampthill and will be based on the German Rheinmetall Defence Lance two person turret which has already been ordered by the Spanish Marines (four units). According to Lockheed Martin UK Ampthill, some 75 percent of the turret will be made in the UK and under an agreement signed with the DSG in November 2009 physical integration of the turret will be undertaken at the DSG facility at Donnington. This turret will be armed with the CTAI 40 mm CTAS (gun and ammunition) which will be provided as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and a 7.62 mm co-axial machine gun (MG). The 40 mm CTAS will fire Armour Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot- Tracer (APFSDS-T), General Purpose Round Point Detonating Tracer (GPR-PD-T) and General Purpose Round Air Burst Tracer (GPR-AB-T), plus training rounds.
