More visitors, more exhibitors at this year’s Infrarail
This year’s highly successful Infrarail exhibition again recorded an increase in visitor numbers. Over the three days of the show, total attendance was 4,557 – an increase of 5.4% on the figure of 4,322 for the previous show in 2008. When exhibitors’ stand personnel are added, the overall number of participants in the event rises to 5,832 – up 5.6%. Commenting on the industry’s response to the event,
which took place at the NEC in Birmingham from 13 to 15 April, Exhibition Manager Michael Wilton said: “It was especially pleasing to see such a positive response to Infrarail, given current economic uncertainties and the timing of the show ahead of a General Election. But the feedback we got from everyone was very upbeat.” The number of exhibitors at Infrarail 2010 also increased compared to the 2008 event, with 239 organisations represented, a rise of 17.1 per cent. Firms taking part comprised a mix of many of the industry’s best-established names with the welcome addition of companies exhibiting for the first time,

bringing new products and ideas to the rail market. “One first-time exhibitor told us that his company had justified its presence at the show by the end of the first day,” said Michael Wilton. Similar favourable feedback was received from many other participants. This review on Infrarail 2010 picks out some show highlights and provides a reminder of some of the numerous new products and innovations presented by exhibitors. We also list the winning and commended companies in our first-ever Infrarail Awards, which added a well received social dimension to this year’s event. We are also taking the opportunity to remind readers of
our next UK rail event – Railtex 2011. Dates and venue for this are now set – the show will return to Earls Court in London from 14 to 16 June next year. With our usual full programme of features to enhance the experience of a visit to the show – the On-Track Display, free seminars and numerous networking opportunities – we aim to repeat the success of the last Railtex held in the capital. We look forward to welcoming exhibitors, visitors and
our industry colleagues to Earls Court. In the meantime, we thank everyone involved in Infrarail for their contribution to its great success.
