TOMORROW’S CLEANING MAY 10

Spend a penny,

create a home

A couple from Scarborough have turned what used to be a public toilet, into their new home.

Desperate to live near the seaside, Tracy Woodhouse and her partner Graham Peck, bought the lease to the house five years ago, asking a local architect to design the conversion.

The couple splashed out £15,000 on the lease as soon as it became available and have since received at least three offers for the building already, after spending £35,000 renovating the site.

What used to be a public loo during the war is now “a lovely home by the seaside view” according to Miss Woodhouse.

The transformation was achieved by turning the gents into the lounge and, the ladies, into their bedroom and en suite bathroom.

FoneLogik saves 25%

of management time

Leading UK Facilities Management firm Phosters, has reduced its management time in preparing monthly wages by over 25% since implementing TimeAttend’s FoneLogik system to monitor staff time attendance across its cleaning division.

Andy Oakes who heads up Phosters cleaning division said, “We are delighted with the results. It has completely eradicated the need for time-sheets and cut down administration time dramatically in preparing monthly wages. TimeAttend personnel have been extremely responsive and pro-active in helping us implement the system which is incredibly easy to set up and use.”

FoneLogik can be used on any telephone at a site. Staff simply call the allocated phone number and are prompted to enter their unique pin code to clock in or out. The system also delivers voice messaging services and lone worker alerts. Time and attendance information is relayed to TimeAttend’s secure reporting website. Hosted by TimeAttend the service is accessible 24/7 365 days a year from anywhere in the world.

BNP blame immigrants for NHS superbugs

The BNP are claiming that illegal immigrants are the cause for superbugs in NHS hospitals.

This comes after a report conducted by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) showed that up to 3,400 hospital workers are illegal immigrants.

Although this issue has now been addressed by many hospitals, as well as investigated independently by Channel 4, the British National Party has linked this to poor hygiene within NHS hospitals.

In an article on their website, the political party states:

“The sudden appearance of the “superbug” epidemic in NHS hospitals has been linked to the dramatic rise in Third World illegal immigrants working as cleaners, security guards and cooks at hospitals around the country.

NEWSFLASH

“Research published in 2009 on the spread of the superbug phenomenon in Britain showed that the primary cause of the epidemic was a lack of hygiene in the cleaning process in hospitals.

“The report, published in BMC Medicine, revealed that experiments had been conducted in target wards with “extra” cleaners and had shown that simply stepping up hygiene levels had led to a 32.5% reduction in microbial contamination at hand-touch sites.

“According to the report, cases of MRSA fell in the six months of targeted cleaning on a target ward and rose again when the “extra” cleaner was moved to a new ward (which in turn also saw the number of infections fall).”

By gum!

We all know that gum can be a real pain, but with a little bit of imagination, we can do more with the leftovers than the bottom of the bin as this news story from the Associated Press shows, where an American high school student makes her prom dress completely out of chewing gum wrappers. And not to be selfish, she makes a waistcoat one for her date too.
