he goal for most is to find a fulfilled life of peace and joy. The problem is many fall short of actually reaching this objective. We fail not from lack of trying, but because we continue to make poor decisions. We fight when we should let go. We judge
when it would better serve us to be accepting. We put our own wants above those of others. Many of the actions we think will produce happiness, ultimately bring grief. In the end, we are never sure how to react to disappointment and simply choose to respond by reverting back to the same damaging behavior which has caused our past trouble. We become defeated, desperate, and at times mean spirited. In reacting this way, we pursue a never ending cycle of heartache.
There is a way in which each of us can join amongst the individuals who have found a way to be happy despite unbelievable odds. Those who do are little to no different than those of us who don’t. It matters little how much money one has or how many people one may know. In fact, those who have found lasting joy, whether aware of it or not, have done so by following the voice of their Inner Guide.
We have a physical mind; the section of our decision making ability which responds to outer chaos. This component of our nature is very unstable because it makes judgments based on fear and emotion. Our Inner Guide, on the other hand, sees truth despite what appearances show. This Internal Advisor will never respond to a situation simply based on surface impressions. Rather, it reacts to conditions for what they are and to people for who they are. If we learn to listen from the counsel offered by the Omnipotent part of our thoughts, our Spirit, we will put an end to confusion and begin to make better choices.
Many of us don’t realize we have access to this wisdom because we have chosen to ignore its instruction. By avoiding this portion of our existence, we have unknowingly triggered unhappiness. We see the absolute worst in every situation. We live in fear and have lost our hope. We continue on this path because we have not tapped into our full potential. It is impossible for us to make constructive decisions on an ongoing basis because nothing functions properly unless fully embraced. Despite what most of us believe, our physical thoughts alone do not have the power to lead us to a joyful life. In fact, they generally lead to the opposite.
For instance, when confronted by hurtful statements, many of us tend to react on emotion and become angry. If we take time to allow the Inner Guide to direct, we might see beyond the surface of damaging words and realize the offending party could simply be experiencing hardships of their own. Most statements have little to do with the receiver’s shortcomings and everything to do with the one handing out demands. Once we are able to see the bigger picture we become less affected by the actions of others. To be truly happy, we must first surrender our judgments and allow our Spirit to reveal the truth.

Suppose there is a shiny new car sitting in the drive. Here awaits an amazing gift that is eager for us to experience the freedom and joy it has to offer. The problem is that we don’t actually believe the vehicle is ours. We see it. Others tell us of its power. We know it offers a better way to travel. Regardless, we refuse to believe it actually belongs to us. We choose instead to labor day after day tirelessly walking to reach our destination. We wear ourselves out while the tool to rejuvenation waits patiently. Until the day we actually open the door, sit in the seat, and turn the key, we will never experience the ease of riding. We will finally find the rest that we so desperately desire when we allow the car to carry us along life’s winding roads. Once we experience firsthand what the car is capable of, we will never again settle on walking.
I found happiness by surrendering to the voice of doubt and following the calling of my Inner Guide. I soon realized how important it was that I continually use this precious gift to my benefit.
Many of us have yet to acknowledge the fullness of who we are. We have instead become accustomed to taking the path which only appears the safest. Ironically, we find ourselves living a life of chaos. The first step in finding a way to better tap into our full potential is to learn exactly how to once again hear from the Inner Guide. We begin this process by simply paying attention.
It can be confusing to know whether or not the information we receive is coming from our Spirit or our physical mind. If we stop and evaluate the tone of our thoughts, one can distinguish between them. True Spiritual Guidance will always encourage us to move forward in a productive manner while our physical mind, our logic, reminds us that we will fail. Spiritual thoughts always bring a sense of peace. They empower us, bring feelings of joy, encourage us, and never cause harm.
