REPORT
A DYNAMIC group of super-
FATHER and son duo Phillip and David Reynolds of Oak Telecom successfully completed last month’s epic London Marathon. And having endured a punishing training schedule in the months leading up to the big event, the Reynolds’ are on track to reach their £3,000 charity target in aid of Sparks. On finishing the race, Phil said: “Job done! It was an amazing experience. Probably the most amazing part was the live music played by various local bands around the course, often ethnic-based as you run from town to town. The crowds are also amazing!”

resellers is poised to dominate the indirect sector following a raft of acquisitions and partnership announcements in the first few months of 2010. On the back of fast-paced busi-
ness growth strategies, major play- ers such as Daisy Group, Nine Telecom, Spiritel, Alternative and Spitfire have turned themselves into virtual telcos that can offer channel partners a complete turn key service to take to market. And the formation of a second
tier between customer facing resell- ers and network providers is set to gather pace as voice services move away from systems and into the gathering cloud. Even BT, once the reseller’s nemeses, has embraced the chan- nel model wholeheartedly and has fully recognised the rise of this new breed of comms provider. A case in point is Nine Telecom’s link-up with BT Wholesale (agreed last month) as its primary supplier of voice and broadband services
in a new two year, multi-million pound deal.
Colin Annette, Client Director
at BT Wholesale, commented: “Communications providers and resellers like Nine that are operat- ing in the highly competitive fixed line market are moving up the value chain to create an elite group of ‘super-resellers’ with aggressive business strategies.” Nine now serves over 350 busi-
ness partners and after a series of recent acquisitions has grown from a £10m to a £35m business in just 18 months. James Palmer, MD, Nine
Telecom Group, added: “The BT deal is a milestone agreement for Nine. It’s a demonstration of our commitment to the channel. “It gives us access to the entire range of BT products, including fibre to cabinet and fibre to prem- ises, which will be available later this year. “Nine’s complementary value
added services, such as billing, direct debit collection and a diverse product portfolio, make this a win- ning combination.”
