Heading up the ECA East region is Geoff Cook, who has been in the role for just over a year. The region’s economic environment is, like many places, quite tough at the moment. However, ECA registered members in the region are working very hard to compete across all sectors. With around 300 members, support from the ECA remains important in providing contractual, legal and employment guidance in key areas.

Regional activity:

The region is supporting the Society of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SCEME) study day on 11 June at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Powys. SCEME is an organisation for local government engineers in England, Scotland and Wales. The ECA will be highlighting

the value that ECA electrical contractors can add to sustainability from within the supply chain. Meanwhile, Connor Flynn will be

discussing 17th Edition common technical issues and solutions at the forthcoming branch meetings in Central Essex on 9 June and Beds & Herts on 16 June.

East region events:

n The ECA Ipswich Golf Society Spring Shield golf tournament takes place on 23 April at Ufford Park, Woodbridge; n The Norfolk & Waveney and Ipswich Branch Client sporting day is set for 7 July at High Lodge, near Saxmundham; and n The Colchester Branch is celebrating its 55th anniversary with a summer ball on 21 May at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club, near Colchester. n A total of £2,615 is being donated by the Ipswich Branch to the Treehouse appeal for a children’s hospice in Ipswich.
