NEW GLASS PANELS TARGET FREEZER COSTS

With supermarkets under scrutiny over their energy and environmental performance, a new Danish sliding glass door system for freezer cases has been launched in the UK, with the claim that it can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%. Lighting has a direct infl uence on the core temperature of

frozen and refrigerated food exposed to it. Therefore, to tackle the ineffi ciency of open upright or reach-in island freezer cases, Keep Cool uses special 4mm thick tempered, low-emission curved panels that refl ect 84% of the energy of radiated heat and light. This signifi cantly reduces the energy required to maintain product temperature and maintains effective food hygiene and merchandising appeal. The award-winning Keep Cool system, designed by Danish

company BEHR and launched in the UK by Lokold, overcomes these problems while ensuring ‘effortless access’ for customers. The system won a major technology award at Euroshop as part of an initiative to introduce new sustainable practices to retailing.

NCP ENGINEERING SOLVES ‘IPSEC-HOSTILE’ REMOTE ACCESS

NCP engineering has announced a breakthrough in remote access, with a solution to the complex network connectivity issues created by fi rewall settings that prevent internet protocol security (IPsec) communication. The user logs onto the local network as they would any other and connects to the corporate network without delay or

the need to change settings. Further, local network security is never compromised, ensuring both corporate and public security policies are followed. NCP engineering’s Path Finder technology is integrated into the company’s virtual private network (VPN) clients. This feature recognises that the VPN gateway cannot connect via standard IPsec protocol,

automatically changes to a modifi ed IPsec protocol and emulates HTTPS to establish a connection. Jörg Hirschmann, NCP engineering chief technology offi cer. “Network connectivity problems related to IPsec-hostile fi rewall settings are a thing of the past with our Path Finder technology.”
