lump granulator is made from one piece of metal and therefore has good stability in transfer of even high torque. The geometry used for the blades enables a cutting principle which is based on a so-called “peeling cut”, combined with limitation of cutting depth. This prevents the rotor blade from penetrating too deeply into the plastic lumps being shredded. The material is “peeled off” from the lumps so that blockage of the rotor is prevented and fast and energy-saving shredding is guaranteed. This type of granulator is usually applied to shredding of polyolefins and other engineering plastics. The ground material produced is characterised by its quality in terms of homogeneity and a low level of dust. The diameter of the rotor used is 300 mm,

with a working width of 450 mm. As they are reversible, the rotor’s blades can be used on both sides and re-sharpened several times. Achievable throughput performance amounts to approximately 250 - 500 kg per hour with screen perforation diameters of around 5 - 12 mm and installed drive power of 30 kW. Overall weight amounts to approximately 2,200 kg. An entire sound protection enclosure for the lump granulator can also be offered as an option.

Telsonic UK to Showcase New Technologies and Concepts at PDM 2010

Telsonic UK will participate in the Plastics Design & Moulding (PDM) exhibition and conference, to be held at the Telford International Centre, UK, on May 18-20, 2010. The Telsonic stand at this year’s event will feature a number of different items from the company’s extensive range of ultrasonic components and systems. The USP750P is a robust, fully integrated yet compact ultrasonic welding system which can be applied to a host of welding and joining applications. This unit will be operational at PDM 2010 and Telsonic representatives will be happy to demonstrate this system to visitors to the stand. Other equipment on show will include a hand-held ultrasonic lightweight welding handgun which weighs just 1 kg and is powered by a 1,000 W generator. Since last year’s PDM show, Telsonic has launched a new Packaging Technology Division and examples of new concepts for packaging applications, such as cross sealing and fin sealing will also be available for review. Telsonic will also showcase their torsional welding technique, known as SoniqTwist, which allows delicate products such as thin film membranes or electronic components to be joined or welded without the risk of damage. SoniqTwist can also be applied to welding applications on peelable foil lids, often used on plastic or coated aluminium pots.
