Explosion Panel Range From Ecodisc
UK-based pressure management specialist Ecodisc has developed Eco Panel, an explosion panel range to guard against the threat of explosion within silos and bucket
elevators. Manufactured in accordance with industry legislation, the panel range is designed to open at a pre-determined burst pressure and acts as an efficient and cost- effective means of protecting process plant equipment. Eco Panel is supplied in a number of standard sizes, with or without a frame, for maximum flexibility. Available in stainless steel as standard with a cross-linked polyethylene foam back, the range is produced with Ecodisc’s advanced 3D laser cutting technology. Because Eco Panel is resistant to corrosion, abrasion and moisture, it is suitable for indoor and outdoor environments.

PolyOne to Distribute BASF’s Ultrason Polymers for Healthcare
USA-based polymer producer PolyOne Corporation and BASF Engineering Plastics, also based in the USA, have announced that PolyOne will distribute a portfolio of BASF’s advanced polymers for healthcare products. The materials include high-performance Ultrason grades based on polysulfone, polyethersulfone and polyphenylsulfone. These polymers, which can withstand high temperatures, can be used in applications which require optimum strength, chemical resistance and repeated exposure to certain sterilisation processes—for example respiratory devices and fluid collection containers. When commenting on the agreement, a senior vice
president at PolyOne and president of PolyOne Distribution, Michael L Rademacher, said: “We are pleased to expand our portfolio to include BASF’s Ultrason product line. Ultrason products are an excellent complement to our existing portfolio of high-performance healthcare solutions that create value for our customers by helping them win in the marketplace.” The group vice president of BASF Engineering Plastics, Michael Britt, added: “Expanding our distribution channel to include PolyOne Distribution is consistent with the overall BASF distributor strategy of adding product lines to key distributors so that we can expand the product portfolio offerings.”

The New Illig RV 53c Forming Machine
Germany-based Illig, a producer of high performance manufacturing lines and tools for the packaging industry, has completed the generational transfer of the RV 53c automatic vacuum forming machine, a separately forming and punching thermoformer working from roll stock, by updating the so-called mould making manual for the new machine version. The system of standard parts especially developed for RV 53 machines used for building moulds, punching tools and stacking devices is an essential element and factor of success for this type of machine. According to Illig, users of this system can build required forming and punching tools of simple design themselves in a cost-effective way. The new generation of this thermoformer features an increase in performance compared to the previous type, especially with regard to cycle speeds (up to 45 cycles per minute). It also provides new options for the production of food packs. The machine is especially appropriate for producers who need to change batch sizes frequently.
