Parking Forum
T e fi nal version of the Action Plan is currently being reviewed and will be circulated via the website shortly. T e topic for the next
meeting, to be held on 14 May, will be Hospital Parking and we have already secured a speaking slot from Which?, the Consumer Association, which recently published the results of their survey into
NHS parking. T e BPA’s newly published Hospital Parking Charter will also be discussed, as will the position paper (2007) on Hospital Parking. T e Forum is only open to
its members who represent organisations in parking. For information or to become a member, contact Dave Smith on 01444 447 316 or email

FOCUS ON ACCIDENT LAW
The next SAM SIG meeting is provisionally scheduled for 13 May. Its focus will be the legal implications for car park operators in case of accident. The European Liquid
Waterproofi ng Association (ELWA) had asked for the BPA’s assistance to get its document ‘The European Liquid Waterproofi ng Association Code of Practice’ published.
It was decided that ELWA would be asked to review and update the document,
and SAM SIG would publish it as a Parking Practice Note. This will provide an industry standard for maintenance of car parks where waterproof membranes are required. The survey on maintenance and life care planning is being fully analysed and the fi nal results will be presented both at the May meeting and at the next Safer Parking Development Board with a view to integrating better life care planning into the Safer Parking Scheme.
AOS GETS TOUGH ON NON-COMPLIANCE
T e AOS now has 120 member companies and the AOS team has been working hard to ensure that both existing members and new applicants are compliant with the new Code of Practice. T e majority of
operators are now substantially compliant with the requirements of the Code and are able to continue to access the DVLA’s keeper database. T ose that have not been
compliant for some time, or have not responded to the BPA, may soon be suspended or removed from the scheme.
