PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARTIN LECKIE
After worrying relentlessly about not being able to say her vows because of nerves, Michelle spoke her vows perfectly with the biggest smile on her face! The rings were then exchanged; Michelle's a platinum band with diamonds and mine, a plain but stylish band, also platinum. Our rings were from Finnies the Jewellers as we have always been delighted with their high level of customer service.
Following the ceremony, our guests were invited to devour in champagne and delicious canapés. The butteries with brie and ham went down very well with the boys, as did the chocolate coated strawberries with the girls! Whilst our guests were happily occupied, Michelle and I had some photos taken down at the lake and around the beautiful grounds that surround Drumtochty Castle. Our chosen photographer, Martin Leckie, was exceptional. We are delighted with all of our photographs – we loved them all!
Everyone sat down to the wedding breakfast which certainly didn’t disappoint! The food was exceptionally delicious and all of our guests commented on how the food throughout the weekend was first class. Following our lavish feast, were those eagerly- anticipated speeches! Andy’s speech (best man) went down a treat and received lots of laughs throughout. Michelle’s stepdad Gary delivered the father of the bride speech and it was truly amazing. He said lots of wonderful things and spoke from the
heart - there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! Michelle's mum, Fiona, wanted to say a few words too about how much Michelle means to her, so Gary read aloud Fiona’s kind words which meant so much to Michelle.
The song we chose for our first dance was ‘Have I Told You Lately’ by Van Morrison which we both love. Every time Michelle heard the song in the run up to our wedding she would start crying, so we knew this was the perfect song for us. We booked function band Referendum to provide the guest entertainment. They were fantastic and had everyone up on the dance
floor until midnight. A disco then followed until 2am, with the DJ playing mostly ‘old school’ music which got all of our friends onto the dance floor. The final song after ‘Loch Lomond’ was dance hit classic, ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’, a real blast from the past providing the perfect opportunity for us to re-live our youth!
Before everyone headed to bed, we moved the party into the drawing room for a few sing-along’s on the grand piano - the perfect end to an unforgettable day!
LASTING MEMORIES
Our wedding weekend was more than we could have ever dreamed of, it was so magical but also very relaxed and that was exactly the way we wanted it. Michelle’s mum did an amaz- ing job of looking after Olivia throughout the weekend which we were extremely grateful for and appreciated so much!
Everyone commented on how happy Michelle and I looked throughout our wedding, we were both so excited and just laughed and smiled the whole weekend. Michelle and I feel so lucky to have met each other, we make each other so happy, not only are we husband and wife we are best friends too and with the arrival of Olivia to complete our family we have been truly blessed.
