their romance…
We met when I moved up from Edinburgh. I was writing up my PhD thesis at the time (I used to be a scientist!) and I was looking for a part time job to keep me sane, so I ended up knocking at Craig’s door after having a wonderful meal there.
We got engaged on Sunday 4th October 2009 and married on Sunday 29th November 2009! Despite the short amount of time to prepare for the wedding, the planning process was a delight - as Linda from Dedicated 2 Weddings did it all for us! She knew exactly what Craig and I would like and made the whole thing stress-free and exciting. I know it sounds cliché but I don’t care, as it truly was - the best day of my life! Firstly, the proposal was something very special indeed. Craig and I had a really busy weekend, with outside functions on the Friday night and Saturday afternoon, as well as a full restaurant both nights plus a busy Sunday lunch ahead. I remember Craig being quite rude and distant with me on the Saturday and asking me for privacy while he was on a call, so I had absolutely no idea what was coming.

On the Sunday morning, Craig told me we would be doing the lunch shift and then hitting the road to visit his sister Lynne, as we hadn’t spent any time with her lately. He said she was taking us out for dinner that night so to bring a few dresses along. We took the usual route to Perthshire but it became apparent that we weren’t taking the usual road to Lynne’s. I asked
He always does spontaneous things like that so I thought nothing more. When we arrived, Craig walked straight up to check-in so I just thought afternoon tea must be so popular that one had to register! It wasn’t until the lady started marching us along the corridor and away from the restaurants that I began to realise something else was happening. When we reached our room, he opened the door to the most beautiful room overlooking the Perthshire hills. The fire was lit, there were roses, candles, cham- pagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, rose petals all over the bed and our song ‘My Girl’ was playing on the stereo. The ring was already on the bed and he went down on bended knee - it was more perfect than I could ever imagine! As if that wasn’t enough, he produced an elegant evening dress for me to wear to dinner and even stole shoes from my wardrobe that matched without me noticing! We went for pre-dinner drinks in the bar and at first I didn’t even register that my parents, my brother and his wife and Craig’s family were all sitting there waiting to congratulate us! More tears and a wonderful, romantic dinner for two followed to add to my list of incredible memories with Craig.
I wasn’t at all excited about selecting the wedding rings. I thought it was just a matter of a plain band of metal which matched the colour and thickness of the engagement ring. But our visit to John Park Jewellers changed all that! I love my ring with a half hoop of little diamonds which I thought looked just adorable next to my engagement
