Green credentials
Alpha Panareti is committed to following an increasingly ‘green’ agenda in its work, both for the benefi t of its clients and for Cyprus itself.
Developments are already having water reclamation and processing systems installed as a matter of course, for use in irrigating the green areas and landscaping on each project. This will be enlarged on the golf course project, to provide non-potable water to be stored in a series of ornamental lakes, for use in watering the considerable areas of grass needed for golfi ng tees, greens and fairways.
The golf course and its surrounding properties (known as Atlantis) will also be provided with drinking and mains water from Alpha Panareti’s custom-built desalination
plant on the coast, with excess supplies being made available to local villages.
Electricity for the desalination plant and the power requirements of property at Atlantis and the nearby Alassa Retreat will all be supplied by a major solar power array to be constructed by Alpha Panareti in the hillsides, away from all local habitation. This silent, sustainable and zero-emission plant will use new technology to work on a 24 hour basis, producing enough power in summer and winter not only for all Alpha Panareti’s property needs, but also to feed excess into the national grid system.
On a smaller scale, but no less important, Alpha Panareti is already carrying out a tree conservation and replacement scheme and also has plans to establish market
gardening/allotments where possible, on areas of its ‘land bank’.
Alpha Panareti is also working directly with the government of Cyprus to include a number of plans within its developments that will benefi t the island as a whole. This will include such projects as the construction of a university or technical college on part of the Atlantis site, as well as more commercial ventures such as the creation of a clinical centre for ‘medical tourism’ and a ‘destination spa’, aimed at increasing the top-end tourism attracted to the island. Other plans under discussion include year-round sports training facilities and the development of the Kouris dam for inland leisure water sports and professional rowing training.
