Elia Village

Erimi

Our architect’s mission statement for the creation of Elia village is: “We will touch the land gently. With reverence, we will create space for people. Then restore it and enhance it. Just because we ought to.”

Beautifully situated on a wide-open hillside, with olive groves, natural ravines and the most glorious views over Limassol Bay, the Akrotiri salt lakes and Kourion Bay, Elia Village is built in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Backing onto unspoilt, protected reservoir land, it’s exceptionally peaceful. The air is pure and dry; it’s Cyprus as it has always been.

And yet the cosmopolitan town of Limassol is only 15 minutes’ away, with sandy beaches even closer and the villages of

Erimi, Kolossi and Ypsonas only a few minutes downhill.

Groups of detached and semi-detached houses in all sizes and confi gurations are planned with winding, traditional paved walkways between them. This is the way villages have evolved over the centuries.

At the heart of Elia village will be its main square, with a small church, a traditional coffee shop and one or two shops, a small ‘gathering place’ and a central offi ce. A little way off, a health and fi tness centre, fi nished in natural, local materials, with beautiful gardens that intermingle with nature.

Nature will be celebrated at every turn, with olive trees, grape vines and fruit trees in

the natural spaces, courtyards planted with herbs and riotous fl owers. New Cypresses will recall the ancient tradition of planting one for every newborn daughter, to become the mast for a fi shing boat as her dowry.

Colours will be natural, warm and earthy. Timber will be worked by local craftsmen in the traditional style; weathered rock and stone will enhance buildings and walls; and naturalistic swimming pools will complement the architecture and blend in with the landscape.

Elia will be a place to relax, to live the life you have always dreamed of: in the drowsy heat of the summer, the sparkling brightness of the winter, and the revitalising greenness of the long spring.
