GEZE CLOSERS ADD UP TO SUCCESS IN EDUCATION MARKET
An upsurge in sales to the education sector is being reported by GEZE UK
The company has noted a significant increase in the number of GEZE UK closers being sold to architectural ironmongers for use in educational projects.
Proving particularly popular are two of GEZE UK's surface mounted door closers which have been designed specifically to meet the requirements of this sector.
Similar security has been built into the entrance to the Academy of Advanced Technology, also housed within the Hub. Using Slimdrive SL operators, the sliding doors are also controlled by swipe cards, limiting access to authorised students and staff.
As well as specifying and installing the cutting edge door operators, GEZE UK has also secured the annual service contract, which includes two visits per year to ensure all automatic operators and door systems operate efficiently, providing the Hub’s doors with a general MOT. Highly trained engineers are also on standby on an ongoing basis for reactive call outs to eliminate any problems should they occur.
JOHN HADLEY, THE HUB’S FACILITIES MANAGER SAID: “We’re delighted with the facilities at the Hub, which is an iconic development for the region. GEZE UK’s automatic doors throughout the complex are reliable, secure and are proving to be highly durable, withstanding all the demands of our energetic and lively student population. With our annual service contract, we can ensure safety standards are maintained going forward, which is peace of mind for me, and for our staff and students.”
GEZE UK’s operations director Paul Ryan added:
“Accessibility was a key requirement for the Hub, making sure everyone could use all the facilities easily as well as restricting access to certain areas. Educational facilities have their own set of specific demands for architects and contractors, needing to be innovative and inspirational as well as safe, functional and durable. Accommodating the needs of students, teachers and the public is a big challenge, but one which GEZE UK is delighted to tackle.”

The robust TS 3000 EC surface mounted closer makes access easier for even the smallest student, with its low opening force that requires less energy to open the door – ideal for the variety of users and fast- paced environment of school and colleges.
Bridging the gap between the stringent fire door regulations of Approved Document B and the low opening force requirements of Approved Document M of the Building Regulations, this closer, and its sister model the elegant TS 3000 B, successfully combine all of the functionality you would expect of GEZE door closers with pleasing aesthetic appearance.
The TS 3000 B is also a surface mounted closer and the slimmest model on the market. The less obtrusive design of both models and the strength provided by the positioning of the fixings make these closers less susceptible to school vandalism.
“There is no doubt that the government’s Building Schools for the Future initiative has increased the market for our products, but the demands of architects, specifiers, contractors and end users are necessarily stringent and competition amongst suppliers is fierce”, says Andy Howland, GEZE sales director. “Our success to date is because these two products tick all the boxes for decision makers in the education sector – cost effectiveness, durability, aesthetics, ease of installation, functionality and fit-for-purpose”.
