British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) chief executive Sandra Loton-Jones has resigned her post after almost five years in the role. National Chairman Richard


Gardiner said ”She has done an exemplary job in raising BALI's profile and building a strong organisation dedicated to supporting its members. We are grateful to have had her at the helm through such an important time in BALI's development. Our task now is to find the right person to take forward."

partnership with IPGS. is organised in Hoebridge Golf Centre in


Woking, Surrey has reduced its lighting electrical load by around 90% following an upgrade to MASTER LEDlamps from Philips Lighting. As well as reducing energy consumption,


the


MASTER LEDlamps have an average life of 45,000 hours, over five times as long as the halogen lamps previously used, so that Hoebridge will also benefit from reduced maintenance costs. In the clubhouse, reception and Horizon gym 365 x 7W


LEDs tee off at Hoebridge


GU10 MASTER LEDlamps have replaced 50W halogen spotlights, with a further 22 x 4W MASTER LEDs replacing 20W halogen lamps. In the pro shop, 48 2 x 26W compact fluorescent fittings have been replaced with Philips 33W LuxSpace mini LED downlights. Across the project, the electrical load has reduced from over to 21,000W to just over 2,000W.

New annual flower seed mixtures launched Limagrain UK has launched


two annual flower seed mixtures for landscapes including golf courses and park flower beds as part of a new Colour Splash range. Trialled in the UK, the Colour


Splash range consists of two flower mixtures: Jour de Fete and Douce France. These are best sown in the spring and do not require


fertiliser or pesticides. Both Colour Splash mixtures are supplied in 400 grams (0.1 hectare) metallic cans which can sow approximately 500 to 1000 m2

says “Colour Splashes are a quick and easy way to add real colour to landscapes as the mixtures consists of species which can

Call for waste strategy revamp


The Government’s waste


strategy is muddled and priority must be given to targets reducing the amount of overall waste produced, an influential group of MPs has warned.


The environment


committee’s report on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ Waste strategy for England claims 90% of waste is left without specific recycling targets. The department is being urged to address commercial and industrial recycling sectors. The committee has called


for a review of the landfill allowance trading scheme, which it says could be having a negative impact on council provision of waste services for businesses.


Barenbrug and STRI, the leading independent consultancy, have announced details of an innovative new trial taking place at Druids Glen Golf Resort in County Wicklow, Ireland. Sown in September last year,


the Druids Glen Golf Green Differential Input Trial is the first of its kind in Ireland and aims to determine the influence of both standard and relaxed input maintenance regimes on grass

mixtures will also be assessed on their Playing Quality (PQ) as part of The STRI Programme, an innovative new agronomic service designed to analyse the key playing performance qualities of green speed, surface smoothness and firmness of golf greens.
