ith the snow starting so early this year, now is definitely time to
get out your skis and snowshoes and try something different.
Winter triathlon is back, and this time, it’s even bigger!
This year, the Northeast Region will be host to the New England Winter
Triathlon Series with events in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
Each course is designed so that anybody with a little preparation and off-
the-shelf equipment will be able to comfortably compete. Perfect for a
beginner, but advanced athletes will find plenty to challenge them as well!
Beginners will want to take advantage of the pre-race clinics at King Pine
and Gunstock. Additionally, the Weston Ski Track in Massachusetts will host
an organized workout every Thursday evening. Starting in January, there
will also be a series of three clinics, each followed by a short race to put
your new-found skills into practice.
For coaches, there will be opportunities to gain CEUs, including the one-
day seminar in Gunstock, N.H. and a variety of clinics and webinars. For

hile we are extremely proud of our talented age-groupers, collegiate athletes, multisport
clubs and paratriathletes, we would like to highlight the outstanding efforts of the future
of our sport – the Junior Development Series. We had a very competitive year beginning
with a pre-season camp and continuing with eight challenging races. Congratulations to the junior
athletes who competed in this exciting inaugural series. Special thanks to the fantastic race directors
and council members; without your support it would not be possible.
One of our great offseason events will again occur in Atlanta, Ga. The Southeastern Endurance &
Multisport Expo will be Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Concourse Athletic
Club. The event provides interactive, informative environments to help endurance and multisport
athletes learn about the products and services related to their sport. Enhancing the experience,
educational seminars and demonstrations will provide a focused environment for learning.
Whether you’re looking back at the 2009 season or planning ahead for 2010, we look forward to
your continued interests in the Southeast region. Don’t forget, next year we will again play host to
great regional races as well as USA Triathlon National Championship events such as the 2010 USA
Triathlon Age Group and Sprint National Championships (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and Long Course National
Championship (Myrtle Beach, S.C.). Support the region’s race directors by earning your spots to
these national championships and showcasing your talents on our “home turf.”
