“This is Ronald Moore’s team,” McCaffery told Siena
faithful at the program’s annual Sneak Preview event at
Times Union Center in late-September.
Siena’s best-kept secret exploded onto the national scene
in March when he hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the first
overtime of Siena’s dramatic win over Ohio State in
the First Round of the NCAA Tourna ment, and then
connected on the game-winning 3-pointer with the
Saints trailing by a point and seconds remaining in the
second overtime.
The 6-0 sparkplug’s real value comes in his ability
to push the basketball at break-neck speed, and make
impeccable decisions with it. Moore is the MAAC’s
all-time leader in assist/turnover ratio (2.54), a remark-
able statistic considering Siena’s up-tempo style of play.
He figures to become the third 1,000-point scorer in his
class early this season, and he has an outside chance at
becoming the program’s all-time assist leader.
