Ferretti FAIRFEATURE DATA COLLECTION

Getting the most from sea trials is one aim of Italian boatbuilding
group Ferretti’s new FAIR monitoring system. In the future FAIR’s
detailed data could be used to inform design B=<G8=<3A@3>=@BA
erretti sees FAIR as an F
essential tool in the quest for
improved quality, reliability
and profitability across its
wide range of motorboats and
motoryachts. But what is it exactly?
A primary rule of science is
that measurement is the key
to understanding. And without
understanding, change does not always
lead to improvement.
FAIR (Ferretti Analysis Integral
Recorder) is the tool the Italian
boatbuilder has developed to turn
performance testing from a black art
into a precise scientific process. Ferretti
will adopt FAIR as standard right across
its brand range.
Normally, testing of new models by
boatbuilders is a fairly basic process.
For marketing reasons, the emphasis
is usually on obtaining the best
possible top speed by getting the
propellers just right. Historically such
data has been recorded by hand ABOVE An example of real time FAIR readouts displayed on a laptop during a trial
