YARD VISIT Nautor’s Swan
Assembly is spread over three key Innovations
sites in an historical maritime area.
More than 20 boatbuilders and several
nautical colleges are located nearby.
At Kallby — where the company
first started — modern buildings now
house advanced CNC milling machines
that create the plugs and moulds for
new models. There are also two large
ovens to accelerate the curing of the
moulds, several of which are made from
SP-systems carbon epoxy SPRINT pre-
pregs. Another part of the Kallby facility
is dedicated to assembling the smaller

All interior joinery is assembled at
another plant at Kronoby, where
craftsmen hand build each component
from CNC cut panels. Such is the
attention to detail that a sample of
each wooden interior is held by the
factory, so that an exact grain-matched
replacement can be made should a
yacht become damaged. The interiors are designed to be timeless, Barcode logistical tracking is used on even 3 4

In 2002 this led to the construction
of a new yard with deep-water marina
facilities at Pietarsaari. The huge
building was the result of long-standing
co-operation between Nautor’s and the
local authorities and it is now the main
