Born crippled, Ana Forrest’s own life trauma and experiences compelled her to
create Forrest Yoga ®. She spent 30 years developing the practice to address stresses
and challenges, physical and emotional. “My intent in teaching Forrest Yoga is to do
my part in ‘Mending the Hoop of the People’; to inspire people to clear through the
stuff that hardens them and sickens their bodies so they can walk freely and lightly
on the earth in a healing way, in a Beauty Way,” says Ana.
Fees: $295/all 5 sessions; $175/Revitalize sessions; $60/session before March 5,

Running for Rusinek
T
here are many reasons people become runners, including the joy of the sport,
potential weight loss, improved cardiovascular and bone health, enhanced mood,
and better coordination. On Sunday, March 29, runners in the Julia Rusinek Memorial
race can add to that list the ability to help provide children and youth with opportu-
nities to thrive in all areas of their lives. The 10th annual walk/run, organized by the
Julia Rusinek Memorial Fund and hosted by Yale University, begins and ends on Yale
University’s Cross Campus. Participants are welcome to run, jog, or walk. Registra-
tion begins at 7:45 a.m. A fun run of .7 miles for children under 12 will be held at
9:30 a.m. The adult course is 4 miles and begins at 10 a.m. Following the race will
be an awards ceremony, refreshments, and a raffle. The Run, open to everyone, is in
memory of Julia Rusinek, a Yale student who died of an undetected heart condition in
1999. The Julia Rusinek Memorial Fund, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, was
established to celebrate Julia’s life and honor the ideals for which she lived. Proceeds
from the event will benefit LEAP, an academic and social enrichment program for
children living in high poverty urban neighborhoods. The race is a USA Track and
Field (USATF) certified run.
Race fees: $16/adult run (free t-shirts to the first 250 registrants), $5/kids fun
run, $12/students. For more information, or to pre-register, visit www.juliarun.org.
Information about LEAP can be found at www.leapforkids.org.
