MY GAME
By Jon Scheyer
Off the court, Jon Scheyer is friendly, kind, and easy-going,
smiling often and laughing all day. On the court, he is a tough
competitor, always ready to play with an edge. In other words,
a different personality emerges when the junior captain takes
the court. We asked the man himself about the origins of this
on-court identify and how it impacts his goals and the team’s
performance. Jon was generous to share this response...
I hate to lose. When I am on the court, I
want to be relentless in every aspect that
can help us win the game. I want to help
set a tone that we can never be satisfied,
regardless of our record or how many wins we
have. To do what we want to do as a group,
we need to be greedy and give it our best every
game. I’ve learned that you deserve to win by
working hard. Just because you play for Duke
and are ranked or have a top seed doesn’t mean
you’re going to win. We need to go out and work
for all of those games. There is not a game
