Newsmax TV Newsmax2 Leading

News Revolution N2, our new streaming channel led by Ed Henry, gives viewers the real news, too!

E BY MARISA HERMAN

d henry has traveled the world covering U.S. presi- dents, worked as a chief White House correspondent, and

reported some of the biggest breaking news stories as an anchor and reporter, but his most exciting career endeavor is unfolding now in his role as execu- tive editor of the streaming TV channel Newsmax2. The main Newsmax channel con-

tinues to thrive on cable. But the net- work offers a free streaming channel for those who have “cut the cord” and no longer subscribe to cable. Over a year ago the company

launched Newsmax2 (we call it N2) as a “new channel” within the network. Henry says he’s been thrilled by

the challenge. He has played an inte- gral role in melding traditional cable news coverage with the rapidly chang- ing OTT streaming model, and he also hosts The Briefing, which airs weekdays at 6 p.m. ET on Newsmax2. “It’s a

whole new adventure,” he said. “It’s not just me, as a journalist, figuring out what’s next. Newsmax and other media companies are aggressively trying

to figure out what’s next in the news industry.” For Henry, it is not only a “fresh

start,” but a new dynamic as he hosts his own show and mentors a group of young journalists — who know of the accolades Henry amassed throughout his career at both CNN and Fox News. “It humbles you,” he said. “I’ve

always been a correspondent or an anchor, and while you collaborate with people when putting together a show, I’ve never really got to lead a big group of young people and be a part of a start- up. It’s been a real eye-opener for me.” As consumers migrate to streaming

services for entertainment, Henry isn’t surprised TV viewers are also moving away from traditional cable bundles for their news. “There’s a whole new generation of

people who are on phones and laptops and every other device imaginable,” he said. “It is only natural to go from streaming entertainment to streaming news. It’s the now, and Newsmax is at the forefront.” Following a “live breaking” model,

Henry said the goal of Newsmax2 is to be in as many places as possible, as news consumers increasingly crave a “show me, don’t tell me” outlet to learn what is happening locally, nationally, and internationally. With correspondents sta-

tioned across the world, Henry said a typical morning is spent gaming out what live events are happening and ensuring Newsmax2 is “everywhere.”

That means coverage can go from

the war in Gaza to a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C., before panning to a state political event. While Newsmax2 is focused on

“blowing up the old model,” his show is the channel’s “signature news broad- cast” that wraps up all the breaking news alerts of the day, provides context and analysis, and tells viewers, “Here is what you need to know.” It is a combination that has seen

explosive growth in its inaugural year. “With each week and month, we

have seen our numbers grow,” he said. “The rise of N2 really mirrors the politi- cal calendar. Its launch right before this big election was brilliant.” Earlier this year, the seasoned

industry leader conducted a “war game” scenario where he challenged reporters and producers to react to various scenarios, including one where Donald Trump was shot — before the assassination attempts. He told the team to imagine stand-

ing in the control room about to start a show when they learn the former presi- dent was shot. He asked them to game plan how the show would look. His drill paid off just weeks later,

when a producer in his training called Henry to inform him that Trump had been shot at a Pennsylvania rally, and their preparation plan was set in motion. Henry’s willingness to help lead

the next generation of journalists isn’t surprising. When his sister, Colleen, needed

a liver transplant, he volunteered to donate part of his in 2019. He is a men- tor to his two adult children, Patrick and Mila. And when he isn’t on air, you can find him on the golf course or plan- ning a golf trip with his son.

Where to Find N2 Newsmax2 is distributed on most major streaming platforms such as The Roku Channel,

Samsung TV+, Vizio WatchFree+, Pluto, and Fire TV, as well as over the air in 29 markets across the country including Philadelphia, Houston, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh.
