materials on Iran, with which the Obama administration brokered a multilateral nuclear deal; Ukraine, where Biden’s son Hunter was a board member for controversial energy company Burisma; and on the United Kingdom, CNN report- ed.
How far Hur will take this
investigation is unknown. It appears that it will likely start and stop with documents, even though the Penn Biden Center has many potential tentacles to probe which deal with some of the worst aspects of what we know about Biden’s legacy, including son Hunter’s globetrotting profi teer- ing and links to China.
The Presidential Records Act
of 1978 requires presidential and vice presidential records, classi- fi ed and unclassifi ed, to be turned over to the National Archives. When more classifi ed docu-
ments were found in Biden’s pri- vate home in Delaware, Attorney General Merrick Garland appoint- ed special counsel Robert Hur to investigate the matter. The documents in the Penn
Biden Center offi ce included U.S. intelligence memos and briefi ng
HUNTER’S ROLE From 2014 to June 2019, the Uni- versity of Pennsylvania received $54.6 million in donations from China, including $23.1 million in anonymous gifts starting in 2016 when Biden was preparing to leave offi ce. The money came in at the
same time that Hunter and James Biden were doing busi- ness with a Chinese firm. Hunter co-founded BHR Partners in 2013, weeks before riding on Air Force Two with his father to Beijing. While there, Hunter intro- duced his father to incoming BHR

CEO Jonathan Li, and Joe Biden even wrote college recommenda- tion letters for Li’s children. Online business records indi-
cate that Hunter still co-owns a 10% stake in BHR, according to the New York Post. BHR Partners makes no secret
of ties to China’s government- owned companies. It says it man- ages $2.1 billion, and according to its website: “We work with China’s indus-
trial leaders, state-owned enter- prises, multinational corpora- tions, as well as with start-up visionaries in their international mergers and acquisitions, domes- tic restructurings, and pre-IPO fi nancings.”
CHINA MONEY After the news broke in January of the classifi ed documents discov- ery, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., wrote University of Pennsylvania President Mary Elizabeth Magill: “Robert Hunter Biden, the
president’s son, may have had access to the classifi ed docu- ments found at the president’s Delaware home since he listed it as his home address as recent- ly as 2018 and planned to share offi ce space with an individual affi liated with the Chinese Com-
scheme, according to Fox. The sources told Fox that the FBI
source believes the payments to Joe and Hunter Biden were the result of his or her conversations with the Burisma of icial. The Burisma executive reportedly
told the FBI source that he “paid” the Bidens “through so many diff erent bank accounts” that anyone investigating the case wouldn’t be able to “unravel this for at least 10 years.”
The document also references “the
big guy,” which is reportedly a reference to Joe Biden. The Burisma of icial told the source he “didn’t pay the big guy directly.” — Jack Gournell
