sive left,” is running a huge Marx- ist social and political revolution in our country, and that requires creat- ing young foot soldiers; destroying tightly knit families which tend to preserve traditional values; making children miserable enough to join in questioning “every fundamen- tal building block of society”; and making “them rebuild their entire sense of reality, concept of right and wrong, and vision for the future.” Markowicz starts her first chapter
with an explicit warning that the U.S. today is in danger of sliding into totalitarianism. Freedom can be lost very quickly. The left has captured all of the important mediating institutions that make our society function and is using them to ideologically indoctri- nate your children. Those institutions include
schools, medicine, therapy, pub- lishing, entertainment companies, libraries, and more. Wokeness, which the authors use
to signify a new iteration of leftism that is aimed directly at children, is at the core of the revolution. It is an ideology, but also a religion of sorts. She quotes comedian Bill Maher
asking a guest: “What word would you like us to use for the plainly insane excesses of the left, that are not liberalism, but something com- pletely different? . . . It should cover
things like canceling Lincoln and teaching third graders that they are oppressors.” The first task of the revolution is
to separate children from parents, to raise them to respond only to the state — or, for now, the activists. So, everything is politicized. One way to do that is to destroy
a sense of normalcy. Don’t believe what you see. “You have a penis but really you’re a girl. You see mommy and daddy, but really there’s no such categories and instead there’s a gen- der spectrum.” This leaves kids damaged and confused, and sets up unhappiness and alienation from society, which are required for leftist revolution. Happy people don’t overthrow their culture.
Schools teach that American cul-
ture celebrates evil things. Colum- bus Day is gone, and Thanksgiving is in the sights of the hard left. Do any schoolchildren say the Pledge of Allegiance anymore? Meanwhile, school libraries, and
public ones, are filled with woke, often pornographic literature writ- ten for young children about gay sex and non-binary gender norms. Trans kids are heroes. The librarians are mostly woke,
too. So, you can’t trust children choosing books off of shelves. Oh, and mainstream publishing houses
Teachers Bring Radicalism to Classrooms T
he COVID-19 pandemic, with its national school
closings, often for a year or more, sped up the left’s politicization of the educational system. We learned that the
teachers unions, which themselves push wokeness, are in charge of education. From school closings, we learned that the well-being of children is society’s last consideration.
Shockingly, the push for
children to return to school came to be seen as a “right- wing” cause. Zoom calls had some
benefits. Parents finally heard just how woke the lesson plans teachers use are. Teachers across the
country, from blue cities to red exurbs, have been immersed in radical thought in their own training. Now they bring this radicalism to the classrooms.
won’t publish more conservative, less-woke children’s books. Or books about children — including this one. Who else can’t you trust? Pedia-
tricians and therapists for children skew left. Medical schools have gone woke down the line. We’ve all read that they are eschewing MCAT scores in accept- ing a more diverse student body. But who knew that the whole curriculum had been reconfigured to include critical race theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion shibboleths instead of straightforward medicine? When your child needs surgery,
you want to know that the surgeon was properly trained, not fed woke politics: “The goal of medical school isn’t to produce the best clinicians and diagnosticians and researchers, it is to introduce woke ideology into the medical field.” That, too, is how you get doctors
willing to hand young children and adolescents puberty blockers, and to perform sex change surgeries that often mutilate sex organs and lead to sterilization. Read Stolen Youth if you have chil-
dren or grandchildren. The point is not to persuade those who disagree about the sheer evil of how the left is indoctrinating America’s children. It is to inform those who agree about what exactly is going on. And to urge them to fight. As one must.
That is where critical race
theory (CRT) comes from. This teaches that students are oppressed and must be free — except for those white males who are oppressors. It teaches shame, guilt, and resentment, instead of opening up opportunities, as education should do. Critical race theory is primarily about racial dynamics. But after the year of George Floyd, it became about
everything: “The overthrow of Enlightenment-based, classically liberal principles — including the scientific method, objective reasoning, evidence- based argument, and so on.” We now face education
that teaches that math is racist. Academic merit, too, is racist. Of course, all of the time
devoted to critical race theory/wokeness takes away from real academic work. No wonder so many urban children are not proficient at reading or math. — L.S.
