TSA Seizes Record Number of Guns
T
he U.S. Transportation Security Administration intercepted over 6,500 firearms in 2022 at airport checkpoints across the United
States, an all-time high of almost 18 guns per day, reports TIPP Insights. Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International was the top hub for firearm discoveries, with 448 guns intercepted. Dallas Fort Worth International came second with 385 guns, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston followed with 298 firearms. Carrying any firearm onto an aircraft is prohibited, although passengers can transport unloaded firearms in checked luggage, according to TSA rules.

Louis, Missouri, New Orleans, Oakland, California, Milwaukee, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Houston. The U.S. city rated best for low crime and high safety was
Irvine, California. The global winner was Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Earth’s Moving Plates T
he cause of the February earthquakes and aftershocks that killed 47,000 people in Turkey and Syria lies in the phenomenon
of plate tectonics — the continental drift of the plates which make up the Earth’s mantle. Several such plates meet in Turkey, which significantly increases the risk of serious earthquakes. Turkey lies on the Anatolian Plate, which is on the line of tension between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates. The African Plate, which contributed to the formation of the Alps 60 million years ago by drifting north, also borders the Anatolian Plate. Along the edges of the Pacific Plate runs the so-called Ring of Fire responsible for much of the world’s volcanic activity — another place where convergent plate boundaries exist.
