ELIZABETH II: A LEADER WHO SETS THE HIGHEST STANDARDS The table of contents for your December cover story, “The Most Infl uential Woman in the World,” says “at 92, Queen Elizabeth II is still going strong.” Of course she is. The British monarch sets the absolute highest standards for all leaders, be they CEOs, politicians, sports fi gures, or entertainers, on exactly how to comport oneself privately and publicly. Too bad the Queen’s lessons on manners and bearing continually go unnoticed, and unheeded!

REPORT NEWS HONESTLY Once upon a time neutrality was commonplace in the news. Now it is made up of no substance, just lies. As a voter, I choose who is best to run this country. I don’t care if it’s a Democrat as long as it’s not a liberal. I don’t care if they are black, white, Asian, or whatever, just as long as they do what’s right for America. Is that concept too complicated for liberals? Is it also too complicated for the left to even have a platform on our nation’s direction? We’ve heard nothing from liberals except talk about impeaching President Trump, and/or insulting him and his family. Let President Trump do his job! WHO’S IN THE CARAVAN? Seeking asylum does not make entry into America legal. It sounds like a pitch that only the most craven coyote smuggler would make: If you can make it into the U.S. you are lawful. Yet, that seems to be the claim by various activists and politicians. The latest iteration came from CNN political analyst and USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers. Recently she suggested that people brought by coyotes over the border are doing something perfectly legal under federal law, since most seek asylum. The danger from such statements is not the risk of misleading viewers but misleading

immigrants. They regard such statements as a statement of the law. bowen gustafsen San Marcos, Calif.

I’ve thought of a great opportunity for all the protesters opposed to building the border wall. They can contribute to their cause (which would allow all fence climbers in) by adopting a family of illegal immigrants, and assuming their welfare. All of you holier-than- thou protesters step right up and help those illegal aliens! Either step up or shut up! SANCTIONS STRONGER THAN WALL The U.S. imports about $1 billion worth of goods daily from Mexico. If America stopped entry of all Mexican goods and nationals into the U.S. until the entire caravan was deported across Mexico’s southern border, how long do you think it would take for Mexico to act, knowing that it would cost them almost $1 billion daily? Sanctions are stronger than walls (“Fixing America’s Costly Illegal Aliens Crisis,” September). bob prichard Belvedere, Calif.

NO FREE BENEFITS When it comes to stories on Medicare and Social Security, those who do not pay into either should not

receive benefi ts. It’s those people the government will have to worry over. The hard-working taxpayer, laboring and paying into the system, did not cause this problem, politicians did (“Solving America’s Retirement Crisis,” July).

GOOGLE NO FRIEND OF THE RIGHT My wife and I moved to Texas last year. We were able to register and vote when we got our driver’s licenses. Shortly afterwards I Googled my new address along with this question, “Where do we vote?” It was readily apparent that Google was dominated by liberal political interests. My simple question was never answered; rather Google had two points to push. The fi rst was propaganda for then- Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’ Rourke. The second was: “We Have to Do Something About Trump.” The conservative viewpoint is being attacked at every turn (“Life Without Google,” August).

THE TRUTH ON ETHANOL Ethanol may be 50 cents a gallon less than gasoline, but that’s because the industry is heavily subsidized by the government. Ethanol production takes agricultural lands away from food production, thereby increasing the cost of food. (“How to Make
