BLACKDOG – A GATEWAY DEVELOPMENT OF SCALE AND QUALITY

Ashfield Land acquired 64 acres at Blackdog, five miles north of Aberdeen in August 2015. The Blackdog site, which lies east of the

A

A90 trunk road and on the junction of the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, occupies a prime gateway location on the ‘Energetica corridor’, stretching from Aberdeen to Peterhead. In partnership with Kirkwood Homes,

who will take forward the adjacent site which is allocated for 600 residential units

fter looking at a range of opportunities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire

the partners updated proposals for the site will seek to develop a new £150m, mixed use scheme that will deliver housing, retail and leisure and business facilities. The scheme will get underway early next year, subject to planning permission being granted. Speaking on behalf of the Blackdog

partners, Steven McGarva of Ashfield Land said “Our plans for Blackdog will transform the site into a high quality lifestyle, leisure and ultimately global business location and will help to consolidate Aberdeenshire as one of the world’s major energy centres, complementing the Energetica Corridor strategy, while ensuring that key areas of diversification in food and drink, tourism and life science are also considered and catered for. “The development will also deliver the

ambitions of the approved Blackdog Masterplan (2012) including a new town centre for local communities a regional food hall, high quality industrial and office accommodation, a small park and ride, a hotel, cinema and a site for a new primary school.” Detailed planning applications are

being submitted by both parties in March 2016 and if the applications are successful, it is anticipated work will start on site in early 2017. The developers have conducted wide

ranging community consultation which has resulted in a number of changes to the configuration of the scheme. Further expressions of interest from

the local community and potential occupiers are welcomed.
