In response Pembrokeshire County Council, The Welsh Government and others worked closely to support the local economy and as have made some good progress. A Murco Taskforce was created and this


group facilitated many of the workers at Murco and their supply chain contractors finding alternative employment. Local businesses have responded to


the challenges and opportunities making significant investments to reinforce their competitive edge. Some of these have benefitted from short-term post Murco support made available via the Welsh Government; 16 business benefitting from SME Capital Grants and 16 from Wales

• Capestone Organics purchased the surrounding Murco lands (500 Acres) enabling them to expand their supply of organic turkeys and other meats to quality retailers including Marks & Spencers


• Engedol Ltd have purchased 230 Acres at Waterston and Blackbridge as the site for their £685m renewable energy centre of excellence

This will comprise • Biomass Power Plant producing clean biogas which will be used to generate green electricity or green liquid fuels (diesel)
