In the last twelve months we have held two free workshops,
one focusing on ‘Systemic team formulation’ with Claudia Kustner (clinical psychologist and systemic psychotherapist and course director for systemic courses at Bath University) and the other on ‘Working with older people in mind’ presented by Marion Dixon and Liz Curtis (clinical psychologists and systemic psychotherapists). In October 2018 we also organised a larger, full-day workshop
for about 40 people on ‘Working systemically with death, dying and bereavement’ facilitated by Jon Ruchpaul and Jason Maldonado- Page. T is was an extremely enjoyable, thought provoking and stimulating day at the beautiful Penny Brohn Cancer Care centre just outside Bristol. In terms of future events, we are planning another day
workshop for the autumn. Amy Urry will be presenting on working with families where someone has a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder on Friday 18th October 2019, again at the Penny Brohn Centre in Pill, Bristol. T is workshop is open to all AFT members and other systemically-minded professionals – please see the West Country AFT branch page of the AFT website for further details. We will also be hosting an AFT symposium next year in Bristol
and this event, on the 1st May 2020, will be on the theme of working with couples. Janet Reibstein and Reenee Singh are our keynote speakers, presenting on working with cross cultural couples, and there will also be a variety of workshops in the aſt ernoon related to diff erent aspects of systemic practice with couples.

We are a new branch and our inaugural meeting was held in
September 2018. We aim to bring together systemically-minded practitioners working in a range of diff erent contexts across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our plan is to run quarterly lunchtime seminars and networking events as well as longer workshops. We have now run two lunchtime events: T e fi rst, in March, was ‘An introduction to NVR’. T e second, in June, covered ‘Systemic working outside the clinic room’, inviting practitioners to consider broader applications of systemic work beyond working with families. Both events were well at ended by practitioners across the region and we were delighted to see that some practitioners had travelled further afi eld from South Humberside. We are planning to hold a half-day event in November entitled ‘Holding onto hope in times of uncertainty’.
Oxfordshire and Chiltern AFT
Chair: Shona Reed Purvis Treasurer: Simon Cornwell Secretary: Paloma Gomez Commit ee members: Eleanor Woods, Sarah Luko, Jane Fisher, Kiri Summers
Oxfordshire and Chiltern AFT branch remains a vibrant and
motivated group of systemically minded professionals. T e branch holds a monthly reading group, where systemic
therapists and practitioners from across the public and private sectors take the opportunity to discuss a range of articles and their infl uence on contemporary systemic practice – the group continues to be a key method of keeping systemic connections alive and well in the locality. We also continue to off er several workshops across the year
open to all systemically-minded colleagues. We have recently hosted a thought-provoking and inspiring evening with Arlene Vetere presenting on ‘Looking aſt er ourselves and each other’, exploring at achment ideas in a supervisory context. Earlier in the year, Percy Agget and Philip Messent off ered an engaging event on ‘Systemic approaches to risk’. T e commit ee meet regularly to plan future events and review
the direction of the branch activity for the coming year. AFT Surrey

Our day courses are held at Dorking Halls, Dorking, Surrey.
We have two day-conferences every year; one in March and
one in November, these are usually well attended by between 60 and 100 people. We have just put up our fees to £50 (as £45 had been the
fee for about eight years). Our last conference was in March 2019 with Jim Wilson as
the presenter. He spoke about being creative in difficult times. This was well attended and received favourable feedback. Jenny Altschuler will present in November on ‘Working
systemically with illness, disability and death’. We started a peer-supervision group over ten years
ago and that is now independent of the committee. We are experimenting with have a peer supervision hour after our committee meetings (about three a year).
