Review of activities over the past 12 months Sara Barrett has continued in the post of training standards

consultant to CRED and the AFT board, with Jeanne Ziminski as chair. Over the year we have held three telephone conferences

and two face-to-face meetings with a further one planned for November 2019. In addition, the CYP-IAPT division have met on a regular basis. CRED’s key priorities have focused on continuing to update

and ensure high training standards; the encouragement of course development; the accreditation and re-accreditation of courses and their annual reviews. As part of this process, we have put together guidelines for multi-site foundation courses, which are available from the AFT offi ce and on the AFT website. Accredited courses as at June 2018 amounted to the following: Foundation level courses – 29; Intermediate – 21; Qualifying – 10; Supervision – 9. This year 10 accreditations have been completed and 20 are

currently in process. We reviewed 40 courses in this year’s annual review. As always, we have continued to respond to many requests for

information, clarifi cation and help with applying AFT’s guidance (Blue and Red Books) for courses. CRED does off er a facility for paid consultation to course organisers where required but the majority of inquiries are answered by email or via informal calls. The CYP-IAPT group are responding to changes in CYP-IAPT

funding and responsibility moving from NHS England to Health Education England and continuing to accredit courses.

Plans for the next 12 months Over the next 12 months a further 17 courses will be due for

accreditation and will remain the central focus of the committee and panellists. The CYP-IAPT division will continue its ongoing accrediting work in the context of changing funding and delivery environment. CRED will be implement the 4th edition of the Blue Book in 2019.

We re also in the process of reviewing APEL and PPQ guidelines for courses, as well as considering the complexities of multi-site course accreditation.. We will be continuing to contribute to the AFT board’s training

review group. We have been grateful to Judith Lask for her work in ensuring

that we are kept abreast of college and UKCP matters. She has now stepped down from her UKCP role and we look forward to linking with her successor. We will continue to take note of UKCP training and supervision policies and college requirements will be prioritised.

We continue to be grateful for the fi ne support off ered to the

committee from the AFT offi ce staff , in particular Dawn Harvey, who moved on this year, and our new CRED administrator Kathi Özmaya. Participation in the work of CRED is voluntary and payment

is made for panellists undertaking accreditations. Involvement in CRED provides committee members and panellists the opportunity to learn about delivering family therapy courses in a variety of settings and contexts. We are always glad of new panellists and committee members and should you be interested to join the work of the group you will be warmly invited to apply to join us and will be fully supported in learning the tasks involved. If you would like further information, please do get in touch with the AFT offi ce and we can take your interest forward from there.

Aspens committee report

Chair: Victoria Sharman Members of committee: Jeannette Thompson, Kathy Miller, Susan Mary Benbow, Reenee Singh, Sarah McConnell, Carolyn Gore, Kate Creedy, Maire Stedman, Gill Wallis and Victoria Sharman Retiring members during the year: None

Review of activities over the past 12 months Over the year we have:

• Held regular meetings. • Displayed information about Aspens at the Manchester conference in September 2018.

• Organised the very successful Aspens one-day conference in January 2019. It was entitled ‘An Integrated Systemic Approach to Work with Trauma’ and facilitated by Jeremy Woodcock, who has been in independent practice for many years in the Cotswolds, where he works with couples, families and individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives, and off ers supervision and consultation to a wide variety of organisations. The meeting took place in London, was well attended and attracted very good feedback.

• Independent therapists are advised to keep a look out for advance notice of the 2020 conference – coming soon!

• Persuaded Victoria Sharman to stay on as chair for another two years.

• Considered and discussed a range of issues including outcome measures, proposals for winding down one’s practice, online therapy, how we sell ourselves as independent practitioners.

• Started to progress planning for the 2020 Aspens one-day conference.

• Used the Aspens Google group to connect and network with other independent systemic therapists.

Plans for the next 12 months Over the next 12 months we are planning to:

• Increase awareness of the Aspens Google group – if you are an independent practitioner and want to sound out other people’s ideas or experiences on aspects of independent practice please use it as a means to connect but always be mindful of confi dentiality.

• Continue support for Aspens representatives for DAFT and Registration committees and develop ways of linking into other AFT committees to increase awareness of Aspens and its activities. • Run another one-day conference early in 2020. We hope to run it outside London to attract in people from other areas.

• Promote and publicise Aspens through developing online group activities.
