Well after the amazing Easter it feels that trade has come back down to earth with a bump!
Of course, we have to remember that last year we had the Royal Wedding, the World Cup and fantastic weather so we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves when comparing trade year on year.
Quieter periods however are an ideal opportunity to take stock of your business and assess new opportunities. Therefore, I was delighted to attend Dalziel’s Great British Butchers event at Harrogate last month. It provided an ideal opportunity to look at new ideas and areas of business improvement. I must also thank Roger, Jayne, Richard and Eleanor at NCB headquarters for their support and advice over the period of my presidency. It’s been an eventful two years; changing our name to National Craft Butchers, attending butchers’ social events, where thousands of pounds have been raised for good causes, networking events and competitions for butchers around the country.
