BIOCHEM ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF BIMULAC®

WEANER

SYNBIOTIC Biochem is pleased to announce the launch of their new Bimulac®

Weaner

synbiotic. Designed specifically for weaner pigs, this new product will contribute to a stable intestinal microbiota and properly functioning local immune defence with the aim of eliminating the use of zinc oxide and antibiotics. This new product will complement Biochem’s Bimulac portfolio that was launched in 2014 with Bimulac® Pre for suckling piglets. Developed in close association with

experienced veterinarians, Bimulac® Weaner utilises the synbiotic effect of pro- and prebiotics to stabilise the intestinal microbiota. The established Bimulac®

Pre

concept is continued in weaner piglets to prophylactically support the piglets during the first weeks of their lives and to offer the farmer a holistic support. Available in powder form, the product can be mixed with any feed and administered simply and quickly by means of a dispenser or by hand. Bimulac®

Weaner contains, Bacillus

Subtilis and Bacillus Licheniformis for the suppression of unwanted gram-positive bacteria such as clostridia and streptococci, while also promoting the colonisation of lactic acid bacteria in the intestine. Enterococcus

Faecium stabilises the intestinal microbiota and leads to a rapid colonisation in the intestine, in addition to lowering the pH to displace pathogenic germs. With the addition of pectin, free water is bound in the digestive tract and reduces the pH in the intestine to suppress harmful bacteria. “Following the successful launch Pre in 2014, we have been

of Bimulac®

encouraged by veterinarians, farmers and customers worldwide to expand the Bimulac® concept in recent months,” says Mareike Schmidt, the Product Manager for Dietary Feed Supplements. “With their support and trust, we were able to test different formulations for Bimulac®

Weaner and to

develop a product through professional exchange that not only arouses national interest in Germany, but also in Europe. We are pleased to introduce Bimulac® Weaner as an effective contribution to

animal health.”

PREMIER NUTRITION FOCUS FIRMLY ON TRANSITION WITH

SPECIALIST FEEDS Premier Nutrition has launched a range of six dedicated transition feeds under the Total Transition banner, which are designed to boost transition performance on UK dairy farms. The company believes that bigger, more technical farms demand a more

bespoke approach and gone are the days of one size fits all. With financial losses on some farms

equating to 7ppl for every litre produced and 76.3% of cows experiencing some form of transition issue, this targeted feeding programme has been developed turning extensive global research into practical, simple-to-use complete feeds suitable for all farm scenarios. “Poor transition is costing thousands,

with the biggest losses coming from mastitis and ketosis”, explains Dr Andrew Pine, Ruminant Director at Premier Nutrition. “For 7 years, we have analysed 58,000 dry and fresh cows every month using our transition monitoring system, TMS, and it’s calculating that each ketosis case is costing £527. With the data showing 8 in every 100 cows suffering true ketosis, nearly £5,000 is lost instantly, and that is only one part of the costs associated with poor transition. These figures were too important to ignore so we started brainstorming solutions and we have spent 12 months refining this range until we’re confident it can deliver in the marketplace.” Mark Hall, Premier Nutrition’s newly

appointed Transition Manager who will focus specifically on this area. “Our Total Transition range combines all approaches to transition cow feeding and come as a complete solution.
