I’d love to see that.” Martin Smith, managing director of Persimmon Homes East Wales, said the new campaign was aimed at giving back to the communities in which the company operates. He said: “We’ve already seen first-hand what our Community Champions programme delivers to groups and charities. Tis new programme is aimed
at creating a lasting legacy for young people who love sport and the volunteers who help to deliver it. “Everyone who enters from May to December, regardless of whether they win a monthly prize, will be considered as a finalist. “We are looking for sports teams and individuals who have amazing ideas on how to spend £200,000 to come forward. We will consider anything from new clubhouses, to training centres, facilities or gyms or it may be people want to spend the cash on the development of future Olympians. We’re very excited to see the projects that are put forward.” To find out more to enter the competition visit www.

Swansea regeneration project heads for national awards programme
Coastal Housing Group has made it through to the national finals of a prestigious awards programme, after scooping the top prize in the Welsh regional round. Housing association and property developer Coastal Housing Group picked up a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (RICS) Award Wales in the Regeneration category for its multi-million Urban Village development.
The £25m project was built with the intention of bringing creative industries back to High Street, an area of the city which had suffered decline in recent years. Since its creation, Urban Village has already attracted a host of high calibre businesses such as Tech Hub to its commercial space. Regarded as the premier property and construction awards in the country, the ‘Regeneration’ category showcases the most inspirational regenerative initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment. RICS judges praised Urban Village for “dramatically improving the area”, which is now seeing additional investment from the private sector that will help “secure the area’s future”.
Having won the award at the Welsh round, Coastal will be automatically entered into the national finals, battling it out in the same category against developments from across the UK.
Gareth Davies, Director of Development at Coastal Housing Group said: “We’re so proud to have won this award for Urban Village and to see the continued positive effect this development is having on High Street and the wider area. “Coastal is passionate about regeneration through the creation of vibrant new communities that are purpose-built for living, work and leisure, and Urban Village typifies our vision that we are working towards. “This award success will bring a huge boost to the team and we’re looking forward to the national finals to see if our success will continue there!”
