Principality continues support for Only Boys Aloud
Principality Building Society is to renew its sponsorship support for the Only Boys Aloud programme across Wales. The sponsorship, which has been renewed for a further 18 months, will be used to run all 14 Only Boys Aloud (OBA) choirs across Wales on a weekly basis, as well as deliver a wide range of performance opportunities free of charge to around 180 OBA members.
Principality has been proud sponsors of the OBA programme since the scheme began seven years ago.
Coordinated by The Aloud Charity based in Cardiff, the Only Boys Aloud programme uses singing
to engage with
teenage boys in a way that develops new skills as well as promoting self-belief and aspiration. The choirs are delivered in some of the most deprived communities in Wales. Aloud’s Artistic Director and Founder of OBA, Tim Rhys-Evans, said: “Without
the vital
financial support given by Principality Building Society over the years, we simply would not have been able to have

achieved what we have and delivered such
a positive impact on the lives of well over 1000 boys and their communities. Over the last 7 years OBA members have been finalists on Britain’s Got Talent, performed on a cruise ship for its launch and sang on stage with Katherine Jenkins at Hampton Court Palace Festival,
amongst many other things. We can’t thank the Society enough for the renewed support which will help us continue providing transformative experiences such as these for our lads.”
Steve Hughes, Principality’s
Chief
Executive, said: “As a responsible business we are committed to investing
in our communities and young people. We’re proud to further our long- standing support for Only Boys Aloud. This charity helps boys, often from deprived communities, to develop and hone key life skills, boosting their confidence and raising aspirations before they go in to the workplace. I look forward to seeing more of these youngsters develop thanks to the wonderful work the charity does.” Principality Building Society is also title sponsors of the Principality Only Boys Aloud Academi, an intensive, week-long residential
for
members aged 16 and over who show a great amount of musical and performance potential. The Principality Only Boys Aloud Academi will be performing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on 10th July.
