Rock & Raise 17 is being staged on Saturday 1st July. The night will feature fi ve live acts, including popular South Wales band The Woods, singer songwriter Chris Kelly & 60’s covers band The Word with more acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Co-Organiser Chris Wood said: “A number of us have played locally for a long time, and we thought it would be great to bring a few acts together for one great night of music”.


“The Paget Rooms is something of an iconic venue in Penarth, and we hope people will turn out in force for a really good night of music, whilst raising money for Velindre Cancer Centre and LATCH,”


Deputy Head of Fundraising at Velindre, Kylie McKee said, “We would like


to say a huge thank you to the Rock & Raise team for their hard work and support in organising their fundraising event. We’re sure it’ll be a huge success and a great night!”


Money raised from the Rock & Raise event will be used to buy a number of items ranging from a sterile procedure trolley to a blood pressure machine for The Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Wales. Plans for the pinnacle event in the British agricultural calendar, the Royal Welsh Show, are well underway. T e four-day spectacle will be held on 24- 27 July at the showground in Llanelwedd. Every year, the livestock classes attract over 7,000 entries from far and wide promising a popular and exciting four- day’s of competitions. In addition to the fantastic livestock, the

parking, the show provides something to interest everyone through its wide range of activities including forestry, horticulture, craſt s, countryside sports, food and drink and a 12- hour programme each day of exciting entertainment, attractions and displays. T e big attractions in the main ring this year will be the incredible Lorenzo International Horse Display. Known as the ‘T e Flying Frenchman’, Lorenzo’s performances are truly unique. Watch in amazement as he is able to skilfully and single-handedly take four pairs of horses – one behind the other – over a set of jumps at full gallop, whilst standing on their backs! You will also be able to see the exciting and energetic display from the Kangaroo Kid. T is extreme stunt show performed on quad bikes thrills the audience with daring tricks, amazing wheelies

Using a radio microphone in his helmet, spectators are treated to a witty running commentary throughout the display with plenty of opportunities to get involved with this unique and impressive demonstration of skill and plucky stunts. Joining us for the fi rst time will be the amazing RAF HAWKS Display Team. All taking time out of their busy active duties in the RAF, the team will be fl ying from Swansea to jump into the main ring on the fi rst three days of the show. Once landed, you will be welcomed into the ring to meet the team and discuss their display and roles in the RAF. Returning to entertain the crowds will be the spectacular Black Mountains Falconry, Tristar Carriage
