Vanguard engine offers diesel
New BDM at
Seddons Seddons has appointed Campbell Rodden as Business Development Director. He brings over 30 years of sales experience to the role, including senior positions at Thermac, ATCO and Speedy. “I’m thrilled to be joining as business
development director at a time when the business is looking beyond the Covid-19 crisis,” he said. “My role will be to help manoeuvre the business into new markets, define the actions required to grow market share and look at ways on how we can add more value for our customers.”
alternative Briggs & Stratton has launched its Vanguard V-Twin 40 gross HP engine, featuring electronic fuel injection (EFI) and electronic throttle control (ETC) technologies. The new V-Twin 40 gross HP (29.9 gross
kW) petrol engine is the most powerful Vanguard Big Block engine to combine EFI and ETC. Both the new unit and the earlier 23 gross HP model address many of the concerns regarding the use of smaller diesel engines – namely, high noise and emission levels, and total cost of ownership. The EFI system ensures more power from the same block, while reduced engine
weight enables OEMs to build lighter and more manoeuvrable equipment. With integrated EFI, the engines can be operated in remote or unmanned equipment. Using Vanguard’s diagnostics software, technicians can plug into the ECU, identify and fix any issues. Productivity and ROI are thus increased, while the total cost of ownership is lowered. Lastly, the Stage V-compliant engines do not require diesel particle filters, further
reducing capital costs. Lifespan is maximised thanks to a cyclonic air cleaner, which protects the engines under dirty and dusty conditions, as well as cast-iron cylinder sleeves and dual ball bearings. The engines come standard with a three-year commercial warranty.
Stop, hammer time HiKOKI Power Tools UK launches the 18V battery-powered
DH18DPA Rotary Hammer Drill. The new unit is 35% smaller than the corded equivalent
(the DH18DBL) and weighs just 2.3kg. Meanwhile, a useful auto stop function records the drill time for a hole and automatically stops when that time is reached for others in the same run. Adjustable rotation speed and impact rate enables easy working in fragile material, but if speed is the essence the DH18DPA also drills 23 per cent faster than the corded model. Safety features include a Reaction Force Control system,
which stops the motor before the tool is overburdened. Also, an anti-vibration handle that reduces the amount of damaging vibrations transferred to the hands. Lastly, the DH18DPA is brushless, thus lengthening its lifespan.
