Hello, Listen carefully and you might hear the mass sighing of relief, as the country starts to unlock, shops and business (and pubs) reopen and the new normal – whatever that might turn out to be – begins to take shape. As far as your author is concerned, there are no better indications of better times returning than the hire sector and the businesses supplying it. Put simply, everybody who I have spoken to in plant & tool hire and manufacture seems to be flat out at the moment, although ongoing import problems and skyrocketing costs are not only causing shortages in certain raw materials, they’re preventing some suppliers from launching new products and, crucially, advertising them. It will all iron itself out in the fullness of time, no doubt – touches nearby Formica. Meantime, we pack much into a compact edition. Adam asks if no jab really does mean no job, Jim takes a butcher’s at a clever bit of diagnostic kit, we visit hirers with an eye for analysis and some amazing clients, and we round-up the latest and best equipment that handles materials of all varieties.

Righto, let’s get to it… Andy
