Hello, As I write, the ‘Indian Summer’ that had been promised has turned into leaden skies, distinctly autumnal temperatures and occasional drizzle. Happily, things are a lot brighter in the plant and tool hire world – trading is even brisker across the board, construction equipment is selling like the hottest cakes and manufacturers are flat out trying to keep up with surging demand, which I suppose is a nice problem to have. It seems that not everybody is on board with this positive spirit, however. Twice this month I’ve heard about the depths that some people will plumb to nick a job from a fellow hirer, and emails are already doing the rounds purporting to sell visitor data for next year’s Executive Hire Show. We don’t do that and nor does anybody else. It’s enough to weary a chap, but back to the mag and we present a pleasingly mixed bag. We meet the inventors of Prop Pal, we hear from MHM and BGG on the power front and the head honchos of the nation’s biggest hire companies share a few pearls of corporate wisdom. There’s much more besides, so there’s only one thing for it…
