Expona Flow helps complete cancer centre project

xpona Flow sheet vinyl flooring from Polyflor has been installed at the new NGS Macmillan Unit at
Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Expona Flow PUR vinyl flooring in
Light Grey Concrete and Cool Concrete shades was installed by Active Flooring throughout the facility, including reception and circulation areas, corridors, staircases and wards. 2000 PUR homogeneous sheet vinyl
flooring in Stream was also used for the staff kitchenette area. The new cancer support centre
enables the hospital’s specialist teams to provide outpatient chemotherapy
and clinical haematology in one place, with 21 chemotherapy treatment chairs, two treatment beds and three treatment rooms with couches. Ian Summers, estates project engineer
at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, said: “The Expona Flow concrete designs give a sophisticated, modern look to the new unit that is far removed from the clinical look of traditional hospitals. “Since we opened the unit, we’ve
had some great feedback on the interior design scheme from patients, staff and visitors.”

Roof CPD seminar improves specification

A flooring overhaul has been carried out as part the refurbishment of elderly care units on wards 28 and 29 at Barnsley District General Hospital. Flooring specialist, A Cumberlidge, specified 1,500sq m of Polyflor floor coverings, including two different colours of Pearlazzo sheet vinyl. Wild Flax (white) was used along corridors and on the wards themselves, with a 200mm-wide border of Atlantic Mist (blue) forming a skirting. A further 70sq m of Polysafe Standard slip- resistant sheet vinyl was installed in the toilets, sluice rooms and stores; while Altro Aquarius slip-resistant sheet vinyl was put into wetrooms.
