New year – new focus A very happy new year to all our readers.
The past 12 months was challenging for the health and care construction and estates and facilities sectors, with more pressure than ever to improve the environment from which care is delivered, but with ever-dwindling resources.
And this year looks likely to set similar challenges. But there are also opportunities….
Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary Designed by Ryder Architecture and NBBJ
Despite ongoing concern over the impact of Brexit on the construction industry, and a reduction in capital schemes starting on site; the long-term opportunities are expected to improve into 2018 and beyond.
Experts predict that construction values will increase; while, in his autumn budget, the Chancellor announced a £10billion investment in existing NHS buildings, new facilities and the modernisation of patient care.
There is also a lot of interest in the new ProCure22 framework, which will see a £4billion investment in the NHS estate between now and 2020.
