The land was purchased for approximately $45 million and will be used to expand Gildanʼs global textile and sewing operations. The plan consists of the development of a large multi-plant manufacturing complex which is currently expected to include two large textile facilities and related sewing operations. Once fully operational, this complex is expected to provide capacity to service over $500 million in sales. The first textile facility will be built during the next 24 months and production is expected to start in the latter part of 2021.

GeigerBTC opens distribution centre in The Netherlands
F
ollowing recent global contract wins GeigerBTC has opened a distribution centre and office in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Ideally located for goods arriving from all points of the compass, the distribution centre will act as a hub for deliveries throughout Europe and the Middle East. The office will also serve as a central point for customs clearance. The location inside the European Union simplifies compliance with value-added tax requirements for EU customers outside the UK.
Frank Murphy, managing director of GeigerBTC, said: “Having our own distribution centre, and office in
Rotterdam enables us to further
improve services to our many clients with operations in EMEA. This also protects our clients
and us from any potential consequences of Brexit, if and when it happens.” Jo-an Lantz, president and CEO of Geiger, added: “Clients are demanding global services for their merchandising programs, with local marketing support. The ability to provide a global supply chain is critical, and the new Rotterdam location supports our international strategy.”
