F
ollowing another high performance year Orn has once again outgrown its infrastructure
The new warehouse facility
management system. Having only moved into a new building in May 2016 while exiting a 3PL arrangement, this has become totally inadequate to the level of orders now being processed on a daily basis. Orn occupied the new 55,000sq ft high bay warehouse at the end of December.
Orn has invested big, in both facilities and people. Two highly trained logistics personnel, Peter Johnson and Gary Dowler, joined the team in December 2016. With over 30 yearsʼ experience in logistics and working for firms including General Electric and The White Company, Mr
necessitating a further warehouse move and the implementation of a top specification warehouse
Johnson will be running the new logistics facility. Mr Dowler brings to the team a further wealth of experience from working at Wincanton and also Wolseley Group, and together their goal is to have the Orn warehouse running to industry leading levels in the very near future.
Orn is also implementing Snap Fulfil, an award winning warehouse management system which will go live in April 2017. This will help efficiency, reduce stock outs and enable the warehouse team to push the boundaries on service to valued customers. The new warehouse facility has more than triple the volumetrics currently available, allowing Orn to invest further in stocks to cope with the ever
increasing demand for products. This includes 4,000 pallet locations together with 7,000+ pick locations and space for more than 2.5m garments.

New MD for MagnaColours to spearhead growth plans
H
elen Parry has been appointed to the position of managing director of MagnaColours, as the business continues to grow.
Existing managing director,
Tom Abbey, will now take the role of executive chairman, a role which will allow him to focus on business strategy and direction.
Over the last 15 years Ms Parry has occupied various leadership roles, meaning she is well-placed to lead and support the existing management structure. Ms Parry spent eight years
at Vivimed (formerly James Robinson), where she helped in exponentially growing their range of speciality dyes, resulting in them being awarded the Queenʼs Award for
Innovation, something that MagnaColours has also had the honour of receiving. More recently, she held the position of managing director at Sawgrass Europe, a subsidiary of Sawgrass Technologies, where she was instrumental in
delivering exceptional growth results over her three years with the company. Ms Parry said: “Itʼs rare to come across an opportunity with such a fit for your experience and personality. Iʼm very excited to join the Magna team as it continues to grow and I look forward to helping them to realise ambitions to increase the presence of their innovative inks, worldwide. This is an important time for the business and the textile printing industry as a whole.
Helen Parry
Iʼll look forward to working alongside Tom and the team to ensure MagnaColours continue to lead the way.” Tom Abbey continued: “Helen is joining MagnaColours as we continue to grow our reach and reputation for quality and innovation. Her experience in the industry and management means that she is perfectly positioned to help drive our growth plans. I will still be very much involved in the day to day running of the business and its processes in my new role, and we are delighted that Helen is joining the team.”
