Add some seasonal glitz with your DTF printer
As we get closer to Christmas, Colin Marsh, managing director at Resolute, takes a look at how your direct to film printer can glitz up these high value seasonal products.

s DTF films catch-up with traditional vinyls, the glitz returns to festive
promotional wear, with DTF UV decorating those corporate gift boxes to another level, and don’t forget about the wrapping paper. As DTF increases its foot hold in the garment decoration market, specialist films are bringing the glitz back into seasonal promotional wear. With no weeding required, these specialist films are increasing throughput while reducing labour costs. With multiple colours of metallics, reflective and glow in the dark readily available, your DTF printer can produce some stunning effects in a matter of minutes. Instant hot peel films are also making it possible to decorate popular seasonal items like teddy bears, beanies and the all-important Santa present sack!
Stand out
But it’s not all about the glitz, some of the best garments I have seen decorated in this way are safetywear. Printing onto a high vis jacket or tabard is quite a common practice, if you use a reflective DTF film, not only does the logo and text look great, but the print also takes on a similar level of reflectiveness as the safety stripes on the sleeves, front and back. This looks amazing and really makes the person wearing it stand out, exactly what branding is all about. When it comes to corporate gifts and promotional items, there is no need for a special DTF UV film. Some amazing gold and silver renders can be printed and applied to almost any hard substrate, a good example is a wooden wine box or similar. The texture of DTF UV also lifts the feel of a product, making it stand out from standard flat vinyl. On the very latest DTF UV printers, you can now layer the ink to create stunning 3D prints.

Using two layers of white under base, a single layer of CMYK and two layers of clear varnish, produces a print that stands off the page almost to the depth of a photo polymer sign. The example image shows a budget wooden wine box being decorated for customer gifts. Once personalised, each client gets that loved feeling and appreciates the gift more than its value. Personalisation really does take promotional items to another level. The contents can also be decorated but the wow factor comes as always in the packaging.
Wrapping paper
Speaking of packaging, don’t forget about the wrapping paper. One of the last paper products that is still very lucrative is personalised wrapping paper. This not only adds value to a corporate gift, it delivers a level of professionalism for any brand.
